Curmedgeon, if you think you are SO smart, HOW could you not know the "huh?" was intended for you? Reading your post, I get the picture that you are a verbal abuser. Reading your reply to the "huh?" comment, I get that you are an abuser because you are deflecting you sick and twisted view of the world onto other people. There's a difference between your so-called "First Amendment right" and outright verbal assault launched at someone deliberately to hurt them. I pay that you and the likes of you NEVER have any children-you have no right to do so. You are preaching hate and encouraging bullying. You objectify women and attack others because of something that is no fault of their own. You are trying to impose your views on others, and that is SO VERY WRONG. Do you work? Who is paying for you to sit on your no doubt fat useless all day and preach your hatred of others that don't fit your mold? You are a sick, SICK, SICK person.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Here we go again. You know the drill. If I don't comment on your comment - take the hint.
Rapid Reader - you wanted to sing along, clap your hands and bob your head? Don't take this the wrong way, but do you shuffle when you walk? Does your hair always look like you've just got out of bed? Do you have your name written on the back of your jacket? Do you have a faint aroma of urine around you?
A Lee - wrong. I'm not just here to annoy people, although that's always fun if it happens. The fact is, dozens of people have responded angrily to this not because I've written some meaningless "this is teh sux, susan is old and fat lol" comment, but because my review has obviously struck a chord with people. What's that expression, the truth hurts? If there wasn't a nagging doubt in people's minds that, oh-oh, maybe I'm actually RIGHT about all this, then I wouldn't have more than 100 comments on here. You people feel the need to defend your laughable music tastes because someone is calling you out on it. And you KNOW that's true.
Meredith Hobbs Lund - oh, wow, my name says it all? Really? And here's me picking a name like "Curmudgeon" randomly, out a hat, blindfolded. I was going to call myself "dentist chair" or "table lamp" instead. OF COURSE my name "says it all", you stupid woman. Out of all the messages collected, yours has to be the most redundant. I suppose YOUR name would say it all, too - if you were a brand of furniture.
Lebentritt - I imagine Susan has quite a sour p..... ewww. I'm not even going to go there.
Daniel J Latham - I aim to please. Thank you.
VS - you know, sometimes I sit back in my chair and look at the things I've written and wonder, "why am I doing this?" and then I get hysterical, shrill hands on cheeks responses like yours and I remember why. I imagine you meant to write "pray" instead of "pay" (otherwise it takes on a pretty sinister edge) but in your sweating, panicky state you messed up. So you pray I never have kids? Because I insulted a CD? Wow. That's got to be the greatest over-reaction of all time. So if it's so VERY VERY WRONG to impose your will on others, what the hell is praying for a barren, childless couple?
And yes, I will accept that I am a sick, sick, sick person. But it's better than being a stupid, stupid, stupid one. Now why don't you have a nice lie down?

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Let's see:
"A Lee - wrong. I'm not just here to annoy people," I know. You are also here to show off how boring, unimaginative and mean-spirited you are as well.
"although that's always fun if it happens." Now see, most people would be embarrassed to admit they are reduced to purposefully agitating others on internet message/review boards to get attention as something fun.
"The fact is, dozens of people have responded angrily to this not because I've written some meaningless "this is teh sux, susan is old and fat lol" comment, but because my review has obviously struck a chord with people. " - I don't think there is anything sadder than when a person thinks they are making some profound statement on society and can't admit they are nothing more than a troll. Ok, so you can spell and use proper grammar, doesn't make you any less of a troll.
"What's that expression, the truth hurts?" - You know, vicious, hateful lies (or even baseless opinions) hurt too. I don't think anyone here is as hurt by your words as they are amazed that you think they are so meaningful. I'm starting to wonder if you are some emo high school student.
"If there wasn't a nagging doubt in people's minds that, oh-oh, maybe I'm actually RIGHT about all this, then I wouldn't have more than 100 comments on here." - There are several other negative reviews of Susan's album, but they were not written in an inflammatory way merely to get attention. No matter how serious or frivolous the message, needless insults (presumably meant to be funny) will ususally provoke a response.
"You people feel the need to defend your laughable music tastes because someone is calling you out on it. And you KNOW that's true." - That it is YOU calling people's tastes "laughable" really doesn't have much merit. I have to wonder why people think move/music elitists are taken seriously. Despite some of the responses here, I don't think anyone takes you as seriously as you take yourself.
One last thing:
"Here we go again. You know the drill. If I don't comment on your comment - take the hint."
Yes fellow posters, take the hint you are one of the lucky ones.

How dare you Susan lovers call us Susan haters abusers. Shes a fake - FAKE FAKE FAKE. As a woman - what woman would go onstage dressed and looking the way she did in front of millions? I wouldnt go to the corner store dressed and looking like that. Shes an actress and a very good one. She studied acting as well as singing. She sure as hell doesnt look like that now does she? Shes all groomed up now. You want to be stupid and fall for her act be my guest but I'm far from being a stupid person and am not falling for her con job. I dont give a rats behind if you stupidos dont like it.

Apparently Susan Boyle has quite the sour puss when shes not on camera and get this - one of her fans took a picture of her sucking her thumb and sold it to the UK media for thousands of dollars. Such a loving bunch of dedicated Susan Boyle fans eh?

Spot on review. When I saw that horribly edited video of her singing on Britain's Got Talent I predicted the horribly sappy outcome. An ugly duckling is actually a beautiful swan! She's just a drab lady that has an decent voice, yet because she isn't gorgeous people patronize her and claim her singing is amazing.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
This review is just too damn close for comfort. Simon Cowell is actually crippling real talent getting through by polluting our airwaves with mediocre wanabee singers that have never played an instrument, read music or even wrote a song in their lives. What's happening here is a sad reflection on how a large section of the public can be easily moulded, lead or ushered to conform to a particular mindset or doctrine. It's unfortunate but while millions of simpletons with voyeuristic tedencies obsess over reality T.V, it's here to stay. Simon Cowell must be laughing into his Dom Perignon at how with no real talent he's gone from rags to riches on the back of morons phone voting and buying albums of formulaic music by the millions. If you would have told me ten years ago people would be gullible enough to be sucked into the banal goings on in reality T.V , i would have thought you'd been self medicating. As Albert Einstein once said "Two things that are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and i'm not sure about the universe."

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
The arguement that Boyle is a product and that she changed her image or embellished her backstory to sell cds is really pointless, as just about every singer who's ever been in the music industry has done the same thing. In fact, anyone would be hard-pressed to think of one successful performer who has not.
Do the people complaining here about Susan Boyle's manufactured image believe that the Beatles were born playing guitars or wearing trend-setting clothes? Do they think David Bowie's natural state was as "Ziggy Stardust"? How about the Jackson 5 - do the Boyle nay-sayers think that that group was born singing or dancing in synch, or wearing colorful, pimped-up outfits? Do they really believe that Michael Jackson would have sold as many albums as he did without the dancing, the trademark clothes or the videos? Or would Brittney Spears or any of her clones be half as successful if they didn't dye their hair blonde or get boob jobs and wear tight-fitting or revealing clothes?
Talented or not, every successful performer is shaped and managed for marketing.
The music business is about money, and a significant percentage of that money is made though packaging and marketing. So what if Boyle is packaged and her image is shaped by a Public Relations firm? If you're going to indict her, you may as well indict the entire industry and boycott every performer who's ever made a recording because they have all done (and are doing) the same thing.

None of the performers you mentioned got into the music business by earning sympathy points from people who want a guarantee they're going to get to heaven. Remember Jim and Tammy Baker who played on peoples emotions and became multi-millionaires? Same thing here except now its a karaoke singer named Susan Boyle who sings songs to make people cry and endlessly talks about her miserable life. Ive seen older videos of Susan singing karaoke at functions and she was dressed and groomed like a woman who cared what she looked like than the day she walked on that stage on BGT.

I have sung in choirs all my life. I play harpsichord, recorder and crumhorn. Listen to opera at live performances including Beverly Sills and Placido Domingo to name just a few. Went to hear live tryouts for the Met. I have performed on my instruments for charitable fund raisers and attracted all kinds of local audiences who like live music. I have accompanied talented sopranos in live performances. My musical taste were shaped by the professional musicians under whom I studied. So I don't fit your and curmudgeon's stereotype of a Susan Boyle fan. Boyles talent is real.

J.A Lebentritt, So what? It's the same with every singer. If you don't like the music, don't buy it. The success or failure of any performer lies with what they bring to the bank, not with someone on a message board criticizing the process by which they came to the limelight.
