ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COMEveryone is entitled to their opinion. The woman has a phenomenal voice. Surely at least you should be able to hear that and admit. You posting sounds more like envy. I guess you can sing so much better.

I honestly thought some of the covers' were striking like her rendition of Madonna's You'll See, but she needs to find more original material to make all her own. Susan has a striking voice, but she needs organic material to all her own to be a better singer.

You might want to try optimism for a change. It's a mental choice you can make. I scanned the first two pages of your reviews...all one stars. You seem to be a really unhappy person and I wish better for you.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
This reviewer was just plain cruel, uncivilized, and the review was a rant and marketing ploy asking me to visit this unhappy reviewer's website.
The sad reality is that we are bombarded with what someone else thinks we should think is beautiful. We see it in Television, Movies, Posters, Magazines, etc. I'm serious, watch a TV program and almost without fail in the pilot you will hear someone say, "My you're beautiful" or "My you're handsome" --- we are informed that the actor is beautiful and are told wha to believe. The sad reality is that many of those actors are also just plain people and the supposed beauty can only be captured with a 120mm lens with soft focus using an elaborate crew of makeup artists, lighting crews, sound crews, a $7,000 gown, and a genius director. We are force fed what whe should think is beautiful and what we should think is nice. That's the abhorrent part of that world.
Susan Boyle is famous because she represents the rest of us, the normal people. Don't get me wrong, there's a genius marketing person out there who identified this "need" and is now getting very rich from satisying that need. We're ALL just normal people and Susan represents us and someone figured out how to bottle it up through Britain's got Talent, Youtube ETC: THAT'S Why she's famous now.
Oh, let us not forget that she has that smooth silky voice that blows the pedigreed A-List singers of the world out of the water.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
It is very sad when people only post reviews to tear others down and obviously are not happy about anything. Reviews are supposed to help other people decide on what is a good product for them- not to be a sounding board for bitter, disappointed people looking to bring others down like them.

Wow, I am quite surprised with your review of the CD. You say that she is famous because she is not beautiful, I say she is famous because she has an amazing voice and her looks just don't matter. Nowadays most famous, celebrity singers have fake boobs, fake lips, and limited vocal talent. They are famous because the are attractive and they are able to create controversy (ie. no underwear, nipple slips, getting drunk in bars/clubs, etc.) All artists should be like Susan Boyle - they should have talent and their looks should be irrelevant.

wow, T. Todd said it so beautifully! I agree! and the fact that he doesn't care for that style of music and won't buy the album makes his comments even more precious.
I am a big Susan fan, have downloaded the MP3 album and have the cd coming in the mail. many thanks to T. Todd!
as for the original negative post--you're entitled to your opinion. I don't expect everyone to love Susan and think she's great. there are many popular singers I don't care for. why you felt it necessary to make a long post of your thoughts on the matter I don't know. but it's good we do have a place to express ourselves.

Wow! What happened to you this morning? Don't you think your a little harsh. Nobody is perfect. Susan Boyle is more than her voice, she is allowing us to realize how superficial we can be. Who do you believe has this so called passion, heart, soul and attitude for singing?

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
I am still trying to figure out the motives of the person whom wrote this review. It sounds like this individual wants to become famous by tearing into another person's successful accomplishments.I consider myself to be a long time lover of good music for many decades and not a dribbling simpleton as you describe individuals whom like this singer/entertainer.I say that because she is not a singer/songwriter therefore she will never be writing her own songs. Many singers over the years have become successful in terms of how they interpret and sing cover versions of songs.Bette Midler and Barbara Striesand did not become successful writing their own songs.I have performed myself over the years and I basically sing songs written by others.Wriitng songs takes a specific talent that I have never had..Many people are just blessed with a beautiful singing voice like Susan. I am curently listening to this CD and it as good as I expected.Your opinion about the song "Wild Horses" is rediculous.I personally like this song but have never been very crazy about the Rolling Stone version even though they did write the song.It has been covered by many people over the years ans Susan"s version is one of the best. Her version is more similar to 'The Sunday's" version but her voice range makes it much better.I also disagree with your opinion about her versions of "You'll See" and "Daydream Believer" She does both of these songs quite well.It is too bad that there are people in the world like you but there are and always will be.The world iis full of angry jealous people like you. What we all need to do is to just ignore you so that you just simply go away.Do not be swayed by this reviewer. This is a very good album which most people will have in their personal music collections for decades to come.Be mindful however that you need to like this type of music to really enjoy it.One last comment in regards to singing on a talent show. It is not easy and to do it front of a large audience and she did with amazing ease and confidence surprising many with her talent.Susan has become an inspiration for many to never give up on your dreams.Even if she never sings again these memories of her will last for a lifetime.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COMOK, as a semi-professional musician myself, I thought I'd say a few things. 1. You say the industry is exploiting Susan Boyle because of how 'badly' she looks, and because she has a decent voice. Then you say, if she was beautiful, nobody would have cared? That's laughable. It's obvious that the entertainment industry would have snapped up a beautiful woman with her voice who came forward, in a heartbeat -- she'd have movie contracts, singing contracts, the like, and I suspect at a much higher rate than Susan Boyle. If you don't believe me, look at some of the winners of American Idol. As a woman, I don't care what she looks like. I like her voice. I will buy her album because she's got a voice. 2. If your message is "The Recording Industry Exploits Singers for Profit", then you're right on. If you're using that obvious statement to try to prove that Susan doesn't have talent, your logic is lacking. Singers, by the way, aren't songwriters. "Real Musical Talent" does not mean that a singer has to be a songwriter. There are different types of musical talent, and singer/songwriters are in their own class. Susan is in the class of "Singer/performer", like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and the like. 3. I own hundreds and hundreds of CDs and MP3s. Susan Boyle's covers are going to be a tiny fraction of what I own. I support a lot of amateur and direct-to-the-public artists as well as those presented by mainstream entertainment companies. If you don't like her music, don't buy it, but it's crass to crap all over a woman's artistic endeavor when your only criticism is a long whine about someone being not talented enough for you. Vote with your wallet. I hope she makes millions so I can come back to this thread, someday, and cackle at you.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Why does the original reviewer care why Susan Boyle became famous? If any reviewer doesn't like the music, then they should post a critical review, not a hatchet job on the personality or background of a singer he or she does not know, or venom-filled commentary attacking music fans whose tastes are different from his or her own.
The original review tells us more about the reviewer than it does about Susan Boyle, her music or her fans.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Heh. The fact that all the replies to your review are what they are only proves your point. The general public's experience with music and musicians IS limited to what they see on TV, hear on the radio, and read in magazines; to them, Susan Boyle, through her "story," appears "real" and unmediated, as opposed to the more-common, glamorous famous singer. Yet, the very fact that they have heard of her renders her just as fake, produced, and mediated as anyone else in their experience. She was once an unknown woman with average talent, like many others still out there. However, now that she has been "discovered," she is no longer like those countless others. Heaping all this attention on the one woman, as if one could discern the secrets of the universe from merely listening to her voice, is completely missing the point. Her talent IS average. The only good that really could have come from this whole "story" would be for the public NOT to say, "Wow, Susan Boyle is amazing," but instead to say "Wow, average talent like I often hear on the radio and TV is NOT all that difficult to come by, and actually 3 out of 10 housewives and househusbands have about as much talent."
Oh well.
