He got bullied at school. He didn't get bullied enough. The sob story. Forever a staple of any of these cursed reality shows, (this time being "Britain's Got Talent", roughly translated as "Britain's Got Spoiled Brat Dancers, Mental Patients and Pub Singers"), has there been a tale of woe that HASN'T been peddled yet? Someone, somewhere must be keeping some record, because we've had dead parents, single parents, cripples, fatties, stammers, orphans, druggies.. I await the day some teary eyed moron thinks singing Mariah Carey covers will beat the demons of being diddled by her dad. And so it HAD to happen; Andrew Johnston was, hankies at the ready you poor, deluded fools - bullied at school. Oh, and he lived on a council estate and didn't want to hang around street corners and take drugs. So, of course, a record deal is the only way out of that seemingly inescapable destiny (not just, y'know, staying in the house. Do they shove drugs down people's throats now?). And even though he didn't win, we STILL get an album out of the little snot (the winner was a dancer, and Cowell obviously gave up trying to make money out of THAT - although he did release the song the boy danced to on his own label.. yeah, not cynical at all, Simon) And while, yes, Andrew has a nice voice, do we really, REALLY want the likes of "Imagine" sung by a 13 year old wannabe "opera" singer? Do we really want this crass, tasteless cover of "Tears in Heaven" (y'know, that song Eric Clapton wrote about his DEAD SON)? Of course we don't - we're not stupid housewives or easily manipulated grannies. It's just yet another easily compiled bunch of songs recorded as quickly as possible before the idiot sheep who buy this sort of thing move onto the next "tragic" reality show star. No-one - anywhere at any time - needs this record. I dunno, bullied kids these days. Why couldn't he just have done the traditional teenage thing and hung himself in his bedroom? Is that not the "cool" thing to do anymore?

The fact remains that Andrew Johnston has an amazing voice! Your review reeks of jealousy and mean spiritedness.

Ah yes, another day another moron assuming I'm "jealous." Jealous of WHAT, exactly? A singer? Does that mean I must hate EVERY singer in the world?

Wow, Bailey - ever heard of over-reacting? I belong in jail because I dare insult a record by a reality star?
What would you do to muggers?

A pathetic backstory gets you audience acclaim? Granted,I liked the Cinderella story of Paul Potts going from cellphone salesman to tenor... but still... it's not enough to warrant "HE'S GOT TALENT!"
Wait till Andrew is a "former reality star" and he's on Celebrity Rehab because he found those drugs...

Your initial points of view are certainly arguable [pro or con] from a primary perspective of adults and/or producers, kid actors/singers etc. But I am aware of a deep sadness, both for me, for you and for countless others as I read the last two sentences in your review "I dunno, bullied kids these days. Why couldn't he just have done the traditional teenage thing and hung himself in his bedroom? Is that not the "cool" thing to do anymore?" As a nurse practitioner in child and adolescent psychiatry for over 25 years, I can tell you that being bullied [for ANYTHING!] is so evil and amoral that many children have indeed hung themselves rather than endure the torture. I know not where your real anger lies, but for all our sake's, I pray that your last quote is for shock value rather than a real and true question of why this child didn't "do the cool thing ... and hang himself"!

"As a nurse practitioner in child and adolescent psychiatry"
It always amazes me when the concept of blatant sarcasm or over exaggerating to make a point, goes completely over the heads of people who by all logic should be able to pick up on it. I would think that someone in the field of adolescent psychiatry would have been able to read this review and recognize the latter.

What a sad, cynical outlook put forth by curmudgeon. It was bullying in prosaic form. Some quotes: "little snot," "stupid housewives," Name calling is the most elemental form of bullying. The fact remains that the boy has a wonderful voice that touches many people. I wonder what gift you can offer to society, curmudgeon, save negativity and hate.

Agreed. Negativity and hate are absolutely fantastic, provided you manage to develop something that has apparently disappeared from the brains of the majority of people. It's what was once known as a sense of humor, albeit more on the dark and clever side, sort of like Pulp Fiction or Snatch. Do you not enjoy the humor in either of those movies, Wayteach Di?

I haven't seen either film. I think have a wonderful sense of humor, but I don't really find anything funny in curmudgeon's remarks. I guess my sense of humor is different than either of yours and I'm happy about that.

So you haven't seen Pulp Fiction but you HAVE heard of Andrew Johnstone?
Guess what, Wayteach? Your opinion is worthless.
